In Adrienne Bailon/Adrienne Houghton’s video on youtube titled “Lets chat” she and her family discuss some really interesting points about why you should care (if you don’t already) about BLM. They discuss how it’s ultimately about what is right. They also talk about their upbringing. Adrienne and her sister caludette were raised to love and respect all cultures despite the very strong racist narrative that came from their latina culture , whereby fair skinned people and fairer features are considered superior and more beautiful to others. And how despite that and how important their culture was to them growing up, their mother was able to see past that and not let that influence how they see others or the or their views on themselves and their views on dating, which for many cultures (including my own) is a very racist and colourist affair and subject matter.
In the second video they talk about the importance of voting (regardless of your beliefs) the importance of educating yourself in this realm, doing your own research and setting an example for the future generations. All of this discussed in a very eloquent and engaging manner and they are constantly getting input from every member of the family and have input from Caludette ( a Latina) her husband Gerd (a black man), Adrienne’s latina parents who are more senior, Claudette’s beautiful mixed race children (who are 5 and 7), Adrienne’s husband (who is half black and half white) and Adrienne (who is also Latina).
At the end of both videos the entire family sings together and it’s just so beautiful and honestly tear jerking. In the second one they sing “Bridge over troubled water” each singing a verse. So beautiful and so symbolic.

To conclude, I loved both videos, the message, the delivery and the beautiful family covers they did at the end. A beautiful family, setting a beautiful example and doing their bit and what’s right.
Much love to you all, and please remember to just be kind and treat other you wish to be treated. Equally and with respect.
